Today I had the opportunity to have special time with Diego. So I took him where Maddy usually has trouble going. I sort of Borrowed this idea from my husband when I remembered this cave on trail #122. (Tim took a photo of a church at night in 2009, and heard some strange creepy sounds coming from the steeple area) This is about as close as I'll get to it too. Then I am looking behind me the whole way down to make sure it isn't following me. Eek!

I went to the Rockfish restaurant after a movie tonight. The glass of Tripple Belgium was cheaper than admission to a matinee. This is a picture of one of their taps.

I am discovering how difficult it is to come up with a photo for the day. Working 12 hour shifts when usually I just eat, sleep and work and that fills in my 24 hours but now I also need a photo. This was shot this am on one of the many trails around Cranberry Lake and what I love about this photo is the contrast of colors and that something dead can be beautiful.

We aren't the only ones that need exercise. This is Diego on the treadmill. He got to go first, then it will be Fatty Maddy's turn. What an ingenious way to give your dog some exercise. Except for the photo of the pompous grass in the wind I don' think I have photographed movement. I noticed things in the background are sharp in contrast to his moving legs. It seems so obvious but now I wonder if I could have gotten a sharper image somehow.

Favorite Place

Besides Friday Harbor being my favorite place in the whole wide world Anacortes forest lands comes in at a close second. This shot is taken on the 101 trail around Cranberry Lake. Even though today was busy running errands I was able to get a run in before it got dark. Just barely. Mmmm!!

K, So today is my birthday and I thought I would take a picture of myself at age 46. Easier said than done. For one thing I had no idea how vain I really am. Like why hasn't anyone told me about my second chin? Really?
Taking a picture of yourself isn't that easy is what I've discovered. But I will promise to keep all the wrinkles I've acquired not like Joan Rivers. It's all real. Oh yeah and my hat, I get so many comments from people at how much they like the hat. I'm keeping it so they won't notice the salad in my teeth, double chin and wrinkles. All fun aside this is an awesome time on my life. Happy Birthday to Me!!

Wow, we've had some wind today. I haven't checked to see how windy by mph but I happened to catch this pompous grass blowing in the wind. One lady I met walking in town told me she wished she hadn't come out but was told tomorrow will be worse.

It's a cool looking photo without much imagination. My friend Traci got me hooked on pistachios. It's a hands on snack.

Last night, after the Roller Derby event, we went back to our vehicle parked in one of those open parking lots and discovered Ditto was broken into. With the most ingenious help of my sister in law Jan, we were able to bandage him up with cardboard and duct tape. The robber broke into the window and took my mother in law's backpack with her camera in it, but that was all.  We all made it home and everyone was safe.

Roller Derby

I don't remember how it all came about except somewhere I got it in my head that I wanted to go to a Roller Derby match. Last night it came to pass with my girl family and what a treat. Luckily my niece Kate was there to help explain some of the rules and how each team scores. I highly recommend it.

I have been watching these dogs for a friend who has a cold. I said "I have a great idea, Why don't I watch them for you for a couple of days". They are my adopted kids, Diego and Madison. I took them out for a run today on the airport trail. What a grand time we had.

I did actually take this photo yesterday but was too tired to do anything with it.
I respected Tim's wishes not to be broadcast all over the Internet with just a towel. So today I learned how to manipulate the photo by cropping it. I think he will approve.

In the ER when we are going to draw blood on a patient some times you will hear the phrase "Do you want a rainbow?" This is a rainbow, one blue top, one red, one lavender and one green. Each tube is used for various different tests. For example the blue is for coags. Etc.

When I am having a hard time coming up with a photo, I tend to look to food. Would you have guessed this was dressing? Jamie's spinach salad dressing. Vinegar, oil, poppy seeds, sesame seeds, onions and sugar. All nicely separated in this jar. Mmmmm!

Let It Snow

I forget how the saying goes but it's something like.....if it starts snowing with big fluffy flakes it means you will get lots of snow and if it starts snowing with tiny flakes you won't get much snow. I do love it either way, especially when I am inside all cozy and warm.

This is my locker at work. I love my locker. It's a way to share things about yourself without always being there. I remember in high school when your locker was a lot like your bedroom. It was an art decorating and organizing your space and stuff.

I took my dog pals out today on my favorite Anacortes Forest Lands trails. This photo is taken by this foot bridge I cross. I've seen this brown ooze before but I am scared to know "What is this stuff"? I like this photo because of the color contrast.

Bag Lady

OK, I always feel like the bag lady when I head to work to start my work week. I do come prepared. But I noticed in this photo that I have plastic bags! Really?!? My sister in law just told me that Bellingham is now plastic bag free. I immediately felt like I want to be plastic bag free too. I just say, one can never have too many resolutions. My next pursuit is to have San Juan Island plastic bag free. Stay tuned.

I took some photos today and really liked the one I've posted but it doesn't really tell a story. It was shot out on airport trail, which is an awesome loop trail, south of Friday harbor airport. Our daughter has her geocache hidden on that trail so I was able to check on that. It's in good condition. And I took Mary for a walk. She lives at the animal shelter is waiting for a home. I think the woman told me she is a blue healer. I thought she was very sweet.

It is My Obsession

I shouldn't be so focused on my weight and yet I've noticed as I get older I am getting more squishy. Oh and the pounds seem to increase with age. I am overwhelmed with literature on the right foods, the right exercise and the right weight, blah blah blah blah blah .......Ultimately what is good for me? Or what is bad for me is whatever makes me happy and what I am willing to live with. I'm pretty sure I was happier at 130 lbs. I'm not unhappy at 144.7, but my pants are too tight.

Party Boots

These are my party boots. They looked great the first time I wore them, Halloween 2010, when I went as Hit Girl. I wore them this weekend while traveling with my family in Vancouver, BC. As it rained, it was my right foot that got wet first, then my left. The nearly 6 km that we all walked Sunday felt more like 16. But they look great!
I have to say they look great on me too. But notice how they are standing straight up? They've been like that all day. Ever since I took them off. Really?! What does that mean?

Mom, Whatcha doing?

And are we going to get some? Today I got up early and went to Starbucks for coffee. I was sitting there enjoying my cuppa when I looked outside to see these two, intently watching and waiting for their owner to return. It's not the best picture quality but the story is precious. So my first shot was taken with the flash because honestly I forgot it was on. When I looked up both dogs were staring at me. Not for long however so I was able to get this shot. Then their owner appeared and she buttered what looked like a piece of bagel or something and each one got their very own bite. The simple life of dogs.

Granville Island public market has so many choices if you are hungry. There are things to tempt you even when you aren't hungry. It is one of my favorite places to go. This photo was taken at a shop called Terra Breads. It was another difficult decision choosing which photo would be "the one" but this one won out.

The look I want

It's hard figuring out what you really want your kitchen to look like. Ask me what I don't like and I can give you a list without hesitation. I have been meaning to take a photo of my local Starbucks in Anacortes and did finally tonight. I just realized one day that it was the color scheme I was looking for. I took a few photos tonight and picked this one as my husband liked it better than the one I originally liked. He is the photographer after all and after he told me why he liked it I decided it was my favorite of the two also.

Back Home

One of my favorite things about coming home from work is washing it off. I enjoy a good soak in the tub. Oh!! and clean shaven legs. It's one of my girl indulgences. But I have to add, earlier today I had an opportunity to photo something I thought would be great. But figured, in a fraction of a minds second, that I would go wash my hands first. Well the water didn't sense it needed to turn on, oh and the only way to dry your hands was a blow dryer and by the time I was ready to catch that photo. It was lost. Moral of the story Take that second.

Back to work

Here is a photo of what I see before I start my shift at work. These are our employee mailboxes located in our employee lounge. What I find entertaining and what I tried to capture in this photo is they hold more than mail.
A lot smaller than the cubbies we had in kindergarten. I was surprised how many photos of this I took before I found one I liked.

Remembering all the important stuff we need to bring with us this weekend.

Another New Years Resolution

This is 10 servings of vegetables. It is recommended you eat 5-7 servings of fruits and vegetables a day.
It's not an easy thing to imagine.  So I looked it up and had to see for myself.  The government says 1 serving of green leafy veggies is a cup, one serving of raw or cooked veggies is 1/2 cup and apparently you can drink veggie juice but sometimes you just say "No! Can't go there".
